Size guide

We carry several labels, and they don't all write sizes the same way. Here is every scheme you will see on our product pages, and what it means.

Australian numeric sizing — 8, 10, 12, 14, 16

The most common on this site. These are standard Australian women's sizes, so there is nothing to convert: if you are a 12 in Australia, choose 12. New Zealand uses the same numbers.

Letter sizing — X-Small to X-Large

Some styles are cut S–XL rather than by number. A few relaxed or oversized pieces use combined sizes such as XS/S, S/M or M/L, which are designed to fit across two sizes.

Brand numbering — "1 (Size 8)", "2 (Size 10)"

A few labels use their own 1–2–3–4 scale. We always publish the Australian size in brackets, so 3 (Size 12) is an Australian 12.

European numbering — "40 (Size 12)"

A handful of European labels keep their own numbers. Again, the Australian size is the one in brackets.

Jeans — waist in inches

Denim is usually sold by waist measurement rather than dress size: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32.

12 12 40 8
14 14 42 10
16 16 44 12
18 18 46 14

Australian and UK women's sizes use the same numbers. US sizes run four numbers lower.

Approximate. Denim varies a lot between cuts — go by your own waist measurement where you can.

How to measure yourself

Use a soft tape, over your underwear rather than over clothes, and keep the tape level and comfortably snug.

  • Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, tape flat across your back.
  • Waist: around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.
  • Hips: around the fullest part, roughly 20 cm below your waist.
  • Inside leg: from the top of your inner thigh to the floor, without shoes.

If you are between sizes

For fitted and structured pieces — blazers, tailored pants, shirt dresses — take the larger size. For relaxed, oversized or knitted pieces, your usual size is normally right, because the cut already allows room.

A note on accuracy

These are the standard conversions, not measurements of individual garments. Cuts vary between labels. Where a particular style has its own measurements published, they appear on that product page.
